Comments: When you understand why the Chinese think about things a certain way because of their rituals and culture, those things become clear. Where I’m based, in Australia, we’re facing an ideological conflict with China. There’s even talk of war. For every Australian journalist and politician, Unlocking the Emperor’s Door should be compulsory reading. Why? If it was, these leaders and thinkers would understand the importance the Chinese place on saving face. If this lesson was the only one you took from this book, you’d be a step ahead of most Westerners in understanding China and how the Chinese do business.
